How the Suspenders Facelift Resolves These Issues
The suspenders facelift avoids the obvious appearance of having undergone surgery by minimizing scarring and increasing the longevity of the results. At the end of the procedure, instead of removing all of the excess skin, only the top layer of skin is removed. The underlying tissues are left intact and are fashioned into suspenders. Two small incisions are made in the scalp to create “tunnels” into which these tissue suspenders are then inserted, after which the suspenders are anchored with absorbable sutures. Suspending the tissues in this way places all the tension on the tissue suspenders.
The benefits of the suspenders facelift are twofold and address both issues mentioned above. First, because the suspenders bear the tension, scarring is greatly reduced and the results look more natural. Second, the suspenders bear a greater amount of tension than is possible with a traditional facelift, which leads to longer-lasting results despite future aging.
